At the southeast end of the Virginia Peninsula is the city of Hampton, Virginia. It’s home to the Langley Airforce Base and has a rich history to discover. Its proximity to the ocean offers locals plenty of scenic views and a quick trip to the beach.
The Kasasa Rewards Rush makes its way to Hampton today, September 11th. In light of this event, we asked our friends at Eastern Virginia Bank to suggest some rewarding things to do in the Hampton area. Grab your share of rewards at the Kasasa Rewards Rush, then check out any one of these rewarding activities.
1. Start Your Day With “The Best Breakfast In The Area.”
Tommy’s is known for reasonably-priced, homestyle breakfasts. One reviewer even called it “the best breakfast in the area.” The waitresses keep your mug or glass full as you enjoy any number of hearty breakfast items, including oversized pancakes! The fried catfish also comes highly recommended.
2. Get a Great View Of History And The Surrounding Area At Fort Monroe.
Fort Monroe used to be an active military base — now it’s a fascinating historical site, as well as a stunning vantage point where you can take in the view of the Chesapeake Bay and the surrounding area. There are miles of beaches at the fort where you can see the sunset. Visit the Casemate Museum to step back in time and immerse yourself in U.S. history. Admission to the museum is free!
3. Enjoy A Movie With Taste At CinéBistro.
CinéBistro gives “dinner and a movie” new meaning — it boasts “movies with taste,” and allows you to enjoy chef-prepared meals while enjoying first-run movies and independent films. Enjoy freshly-prepared meals from their American Bistro menu, a full bar, as well as traditional movie snacks. Some reviewers have said that it can be a little pricey, so do be prepared for that. Still a good option for a special night out.
4. Have Some Fun At Buckroe Beach.
Hampton locals enjoy proximity to the ocean and the great Chesapeake Bay. Head just north of Fort Monroe to find yourself at Buckroe Beach — what one reviewer called, the “best beach ever.” Soak up the sun on the lovely beach front, buy some ice cream from one of the local vendors, or rent a kayak. Reviewers have also reported that the beach is generally not very crowded and is family friendly.
5. Discover Hampton University.
Hampton University is a top-ranked institution where great minds such as Booker T. Washington once studied. Discover the university’s rich history, or spend some time walking through the beautiful campus setting that’s surrounded by water on three sides. Consider a guided tour that offers an “inspirational and empowering journey through time.” You may even be able to catch a Hampton University Pirates home game during your visit!
